Pillar 3: Business

#1: Work with grassroots advocates from Eugene Wake Up

It takes courage to speak out when you are in the minority. While I do not support every post and message from the advocacy group Eugene Wake Up, I admire their commitment to a safe community for all. Too many business leaders have experienced destruction of property, intimidation, and vandalism. In working toward solutions, I would want to involve members of EWU, who have made it clear that lawless and destructive behavior are far from limited to the unhoused community.

#2: Prevent discrimination against Black-owned business owners

Here in Oregon, we must acknowledge that our Constitution has deeply racist and anti-Black origins. We have to cultivate an environment that's welcoming for all, and we cannot do that while Black Eugeneans and people of color experience discrimination. Entrepreneurs of color seeking business loans have experienced this throughout our community.
